Inspiring Hope During a Crisis

Inspiring Hope During a Crisis

With a mission to empower self-reliance and inspire hope, Volunteers of America (VOA) is a critical partner in meeting the goals of preventing and ending homelessness in Durham. Supported by funding from the Forever Home, Durham program, VOA partners with Durham County Social Services to connect people facing homelessness to housing resources and service providers through Entry Point Durham.

Dr. Cherisse Collins, Senior Program Director, describes the Entry Point Durham program as the first place families or individuals facing homelessness can call for immediate assistance. While reflecting on the people that have been served and the community’s need, Collins shared, “We’ve had people come to us more than once, and our response is the same – we listen, try to understand their situation and help resolve it.”

Durham residents experiencing a housing crisis or wanting to get involved can contact EntryPoint Durham by calling 984-287-8313. For more information about VOA, visit https://www.durhamcoc.org/coordinated-entry-intake.html
