News Release For Immediate Release: May 4, 2022 Two Arrested on Robbery with Dangerous Weapon Charges The Durham Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division – Robbery Unit charged two people for robbery with a dangerous weapon charges in connection to an armed robbery which occurred yesterday evening. On May 3, 2022 at approximately 6:09pm, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery in the area of Bedford St. at Lexington St. After an initial investigation it was determined that the suspects had fled on foot but they were possibly in a nearby location. Officers approached the location and eventually the two suspects surrendered without incident. Investigators with the Robbery Unit charged Ja'heed Bower, 18, of Durham and a 17-year-old juvenile with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Bower is currently in the Durham County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. The 17-year-old juvenile was placed in a Juvenile Detention Center. A .22 caliber rifle believed to have been used in this incident was seized during this investigation. The victim, who was a juvenile was not injured during this incident. Investigators are still working to determine if this incident is related to other recent armed robberies within the City of Durham.
