Due to extreme heat that is likely to continue through the summer, the Solid Waste Management Collections team is now starting daily curbside collections earlier than usual to avoid the worst heat of the day. Until further notice, we request that garbage, recycling, and yard waste carts, as well as bulky items, be at the curb no later than 5 a.m.
The heat index is now reaching highs near 110-115 degrees, and similar forecasts are likely to continue throughout the summer. For the safety of our collection crews, we are trying to complete garbage, yard waste, bulky, and recycling collections each day before the worst of the afternoon heat. Setting your cart/items out the night before or no later than 5 a.m. on your collection day, enables us to begin collections earlier and complete them earlier.
Thank you for understanding and helping to keep our frontline workers safe this summer.
