News Release For Immediate Release: July 7, 2022 Arrest Made in April Homicide Durham police have arrested a 17- year-old juvenile in the murder of Jose Cabrera and shooting of a teenager in early April. The juvenile was arrested in Greensboro, North Carolina and charged with murder, attempted murder, discharging a firearm into occupied vehicle, minor in possession of a handgun, and discharging a weapon within city limits. The 17-year-old juvenile was placed in a Juvenile Detention Center. On April 12, 2022, at 9:15 p.m., officers were flagged down on Alston Avenue and told that someone had been shot. Officers located a wrecked vehicle occupied by two males on Alston Avenue near Juniper Street. Both males – an adult and a teenager – had been shot and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Jose Cabrera died a short time later at the hospital. The teenager was transported in stable condition.
