[ARCHIVED] Foster Street Closure for Emergency Sewer Line Repair - Wednesday, March 15, 2023

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Foster Street between E. Chapel Hill and E. Morgan streets will be closed to through traffic for emergency repair of a sanitary sewer line. This closure is anticipated to last six working days and is necessary for the contractor to complete the repairs to the sanitary sewer line.

Local access to businesses on Foster Street will be maintained, as well as access to the sidewalk on the west side of the street..

No disruptions to existing water and sewer services in the area are anticipated.

Durham Water Management encourages drivers in downtown Durham to plan accordingly and follow detour signage to avoid the construction area.

Detour Routes
Northbound traffic on Corcoran Street (which becomes Foster Street north of E. Chapel Hill Street) will use eastbound E. Chapel Hill Street then take Rigsbee Avenue north to E. Morgan Street then turn left and continue to Foster Street. See green arrows on detour route map below.

Southbound traffic on Foster Street will be directed west on E. Morgan Street to N. Great Jones Street to W. Main Street then turn left and proceed to Corcoran Street and turn right. See red arrows on detour route map below..

Local access to the valet parking area for the Durham Marriott City Center and businesses on Foster Street will be maintained.
