1. Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?
Being a part of a board, committee, or commission for the City of Durham is a great way to learn about the interworkings of city government and how the City actually works for and with the community. By actively engaging in these roles, citizens can contribute their unique perspectives while learning about the decision-making processes that shape our community. This involvement fosters a sense of civic responsibility and empowerment, ultimately leading to a more informed and inclusive local governance.
2. What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?
Being part of The Board of Trustees at The Carolina Theater of Durham is truly rewarding. I enjoy working with a passionate team to shape the theater's direction and its meaningful role in our community. Seeing our collective efforts blend with the theater's creative pursuits is a constant source of joy and motivation.
3. What is your favorite part about living in Durham?
My favorite aspect of living in Durham is the strong sense of community that permeates every facet of life here. The genuine connections and collaborations among residents create a welcoming and vibrant environment that truly makes Durham feel like home. It's heartwarming to be part of a place where people come together to support and uplift one another.
