Fleet Management was excited to participate in the Acceler8 event for local Middle School students. Our technicians introduced students to vehicle maintenance and EVs. The event was attended by 2,000 8th grade students from Durham Public Schools. On display by the Fleet table were couple of EVs for students to look at. They enjoyed seeing a laptop and a TV monitor running off the power inverter on the Ford F-150 Lightning EV as opposed to gas or diesel generator.
Fleet technicians had some great feedback to share regarding their experience. "I was able to share how the field of automotive and fleet repair is much more science and technology driven now than the old image of just 'turning wrenches'. I truly enjoy being able to learn and share information on electric vehicles and electrification of our transportation systems." said Reuben Bond, Fleet Maintenance Specialist, Sr.
David Peoples, another Fleet Maintenance Specialists, Sr. that attended said "We interacted with hundreds of students, many of whom asked fantastic questions regarding our careers, qualifications, and job duties. It was obvious that many of the students had interest in vehicles and machines..."
Our technicians that attended the event were Philip Tarquinio, David Peoples, Reggie Broughton and Reuben Bond. We are thankful that they took the time from their
