Public Hearing Notice


The Durham City-County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on January 14, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 101 City Hall Plaza, 1st Floor, Durham, NC  27701, to consider the following:

UDO Text Amendments
  • TC1800010 – NPO Revisions – Amendments to Article 2, Review Authority; and Article 4, Zoning Districts, regarding revisions to the Neighborhood Protection Overlay (NPO) process. 
Plan Amendment
  • NCCU Student Center (A1900014) located at 528 Nelson Street is a request to change the future land use designation from Medium Density Residential to Institutional.
Zoning Map Changes
  • NCCU Student Center (Z1900035) located at 528 Nelson Street is a request to change the zoning from Residential Urban -5 (Duplex) (RU-5(2)) to University and College-2 (UC-2).
  • Royals Extension (Z1900013) located at 2622 South Miami Boulevard and 2120 Brunson Road is a request to change the zoning from Industrial Light (IL), Commercial Neighborhood (CN), Residential Suburban-20 (RS-20) to Industrial Light (IL).  There is no change to the existing IL area.
Ask A Planner: Planning Department staff will be available to provide information about public hearing items on the agenda for that evening’s meeting. The case planners will be in the City Council Chambers, located on the first floor of City Hall at 101 City Hall Plaza, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Public Participation: Interested parties may appear at the meeting. Any person wishing to speak at the public hearing should be present at 5:30 p.m. and should sign up on the sheets to be provided. The Chair will recognize all persons wishing to speak. Substantial changes to the proposed action may be made following the public hearing for each case
