Review the Draft Recommendations for the Southeast Durham Focus Area and Share Your Feedback!
Planning staff has shared out draft recommendations for the Southeast Durham Focus Area and is asking for your feedback by August 18th! The Southeast Durham Focus Area is a part of Durham’s new Comprehensive Plan. Durham City Council asked the Planning Department to focus on this area of Durham first to provide early, near-term guidance for this fast growing area before the entire Comprehensive Plan is adopted. The purpose of the focus area is to: - Apply the plan’s goals and objectives to a specific area;
- Understand what residents see as existing needs and priorities for the area;
- Understand what land uses (types of housing, locations of new stores, environmental protections) residents want to see; and
- Recommend new future land uses to inform the many zoning and annexation requests
We have recently completed our initial round of engagement to hear from residents about their experiences, issues, and priorities for housing, transportation, and environment in the southeast Durham area. View the Southeast Durham Focus Area Engagement Summary (PDF) (in English); o en Español: https://engagedurham.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/SEDFA-Engagement-Summary_Spanish-1.pdf. We compiled and analyzed the feedback we heard during the initial round of engagement to form draft recommendations that are now available for your review and feedback. These recommendations are in the form of Draft Policies, a Draft Place Type Guide, and a Place Type Map – check them out at durham.mysocialpinpoint.com/sedfa/ (in English), o en Español, https://durham.mysocialpinpoint.com/sedfa_spa/. A survey to provide feedback is open until August 18th. To learn about the schedule for the remainder of the plan and making those community aspirations a reality, visit: https://engagedurham.com/comprehensive-plan-resources/process-and-timeline/.
