City of Durham Closed for the Christmas Holiday and New Years

Most City offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency operations, will be closed on Friday, December 24, 2021 and Monday, December 27, 2021, in observance of the Christmas holiday. City Hall will also be closed on Friday, December 31, 2021 in observance of New Years Day.

INFINITY ROAD REZONING – DECEMBER 16, 2021
CJTpa, on behalf of the property owner, is conducting a virtual neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, December 16, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time to discuss the potential rezoning of approximately 18.06  acres of property located east of the intersection of Infinity Road and N. Roxboro Street and having Durham County Parcel Identification Numbers 180607 & 180608. The property is currently zoned Residential Suburban 20 (RS-20). The applicant is considering rezoning the parcels to Planned Development Residential (PDR) and Office & Institutional (OI) to accommodate a residential development that will also include a small neighborhood commercial component.

The Board of County Commissioners will hold a virtual meeting on December 13, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. 
No items will be presented by City-County Planning

Residents wishing to comment on the items sign up by emailing the Durham County Clerk to the Board at [email protected] no later than 2:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. The call-in information for the meeting will be shared to those individuals after they have emailed the Clerk.   
 
The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensures the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff.
Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch live on the County website or via YouTube at www.youtube.com/DCoWebmaster. Replays of the meeting are available on the Durham Television Network on Spectrum Channel 8, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, Google Fiber Channel 8, and Frontier Communications Channel 70. On-demand video may be watched once it is uploaded to the County's website. 


Durham Board of Adjustment

The Durham City-County Board of Adjustment will hold a virtual public hearing on December 14, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. to hear the following requests in quasi-judicial hearings:
  • B2100031 – County: A request for a variance from the balloon test requirement for a wireless communication facility. The subject site is located at 5193 International Drive, is zoned Industrial Light (IL), and in the Suburban Tier. 
  • B2100051 – City: A request for a minor special use permit for an addition onto a nonconforming structure. The subject site is located at 1408 Virginia Avenue, is zoned Residential Suburban-8 (RS-8), and in the Urban Tier. 
  • B2100052 – City: A request for a minor special use permit for a daycare located in a residential district. The subject site is located at 1239 Berkeley Street, is zoned Residential Urban-5(2) (RU-5(2)), and in the Urban Tier.
