Durham’s New Comprehensive Plan UpdateDurham is working on a new Comprehensive Plan, a long-range vision for our community! The Comprehensive Plan decides what can be built where in Durham. Check out the Fall/Winter Engagement Summary! During the Fall of 2021 and Winter of 2022, hundreds of residents shared their input on the first draft of the Place Type Map for the Comprehensive Plan. Through our Engagement Ambassadors, virtual Community Meetings, and our online engagement, we heard a lot about what you need more of or want less of in your neighborhoods. We also heard suggestions for how to improve, clarify, or change the map to more accurately reflect resident needs and priorities. You can take a look at all of the input from residents and learn about what’s next for this plan at the Engagement Summary Update page. Upcoming Engagement Opportunity! To make the Community Goals and Objectives of the Comprehensive Plan a reality in Durham, we have drafted policy recommendations on how to achieve them. Policy Working Groups are groups of residents and staff from across City and County departments who have helped us create the initial draft policies. These initial policy recommendations will be shared for community-wide engagement for input this Spring 2022.
