Durham’s New Comprehensive Plan Update

Durham is working on a new Comprehensive Plan, a long-range vision for our community! The Comprehensive Plan decides what can be built where in Durham.

Engagement has started!

We want to hear from you! Engagement on the policy recommendations that will be part of the new Comprehensive Plan has begun. To make the Community Goals and Objectives of the Comprehensive Plan a reality in Durham, we have drafted policy recommendations on how to achieve them. These policies have been drafted by teams of staff and community members, including youth, over the last several months. Your input will inform changes to these policies before the drafts are finalized later this year.

Annexation Petition

Angier Avenue Apartments (BDG2100004) is a request for voluntary noncontiguous annexation of four parcels of land totaling 36.67 acres located at 3723, 3729, 3685 & 3801 Angier Avenue (portion).

Zoning Map Change

Angier Avenue Apartments (Z2100005) is a request to change the zoning from Residential Suburban – Multifamily with a Development Plan (RS-M(D)) and Residential Suburban – 20 (RS-20), with a Falls/Jordan Lake Watershed Protection District-B (F/J-B) to Residential Suburban – Multifamily with a Development Plan (RS-M(D)) with a Falls/Jordan Lake Watershed Protection District-B (F/J-B). A future land use map amendment from Low Density Residential to Medium-High Density Residential is also associated with this request located at 3723, 3729, 3685 & 3801 Angier Avenue (portion).

The Board of County Commissioners will hold a meeting on May 23, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., 2nd floor, Commissioners' Meeting Room, Durham County Administration I, 200 E. Main Street to hear the following requests:

Zoning Map Change

Parmer Sector 3 (Z2100013) is a request to change the zoning from Residential Rural (RR) to Science Research Park (SRP) located at 2102 and 2152 So Hi Drive.

Residents who wish to participate in meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option due to social distancing guidelines still in place inside the Board Chambers, located in the Durham County Administration Building I, 200 E. Main St. While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others.

There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are very limited seating options. The ability to attend the meeting will be based on first come/first serve. Seating priority will be given to County staff. A low-capacity overflow seating area is in the lobby on the second floor of Administration Building I. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.

Replays of the meeting are available on the Durham Television Network on Spectrum Channel 8, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, Google Fiber Channel 8, and Frontier Communications Channel 70. On-demand video may be watched once it is uploaded to the County's website.
