It’s Budget Season - and We Want to Hear from You!
One of the most important functions of the City government is presenting City Council with a budget to fund operations and services for Durham residents each year. While the new budget will not go into effect until July, work is well underway crafting what items will make their way into the final budget.
So Far:
1. Budget Retreat: City Council held a budget retreat on March 2-3 to discuss an overview of the budget process and high-level goals and needs.
2. First Public Hearing: An initial public hearing was held on March 20 to allow residents to offer ideas and thoughts on what they would like to see in the final budget for the City.
But you still have time to get involved and let your voice be heard!
Next Steps:
City staff will take information from the budget retreat to continue refining the budget proposal for City Council. City Manager Wanda Page is scheduled to make a presentation on the latest budget proposal on May 15 before another public hearing on June 5. Keep an eye on the City’s website and social media channels for more information on the budget.
