The Board of County Commissioners will hold a meeting on June 5, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Chambers, 2nd Floor, Durham County Administration I, 200 E. Main Street.
No cases will be presented by the Planning Department.
Residents may attend in person, via Zoom, or watch live on the County’s website and on DTN. Seating is limited inside the Chambers due to social distancing guidelines, and is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority given to County staff. A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option.
Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually. Please refer to the following web page for ways to participate: Commissioner Meetings. The Zoom meeting link will be posted during the week before the scheduled meeting.
All Board of County Commissioner meetings and other Durham County content are available for viewing on the Durham County YouTube Channel. Rebroadcasts of the meeting are available on the Durham Television Network on Spectrum Channel 8, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, Google Fiber Channel 8, and Frontier Communications Channel 70. The function of the Joint City-County Planning Committee is to expedite consideration by the two governing bodies of planning issues which affect both governments. The Committee advises the Durham City Council and Durham County Board of County Commissioners and has no ultimate decision-making power. Items on the agenda are not public hearings.

- Comprehensive Plan (Continued from May 23, 2023) The Planning Commission will consider making a recommendation on the adoption of the new Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan guides what should be built where in Durham. It guides what size and kind of homes should be built in what part of the City and County, where schools and businesses should be built, and where streets should run through. The new Comprehensive Plan includes Community Goals and Objectives, Policies, and a Place Type Map.
