Why was the location for the proposed tank chosen?
The tank site location near the intersection of Page Road and Page Road Extension provides an ideal location because of its elevation and proximity to areas which exhibited low water system pressures. The elevation of the site is the most critical element for the tank design. The elevation at the top of the tank is independent of the ground elevation. Therefore, the higher the ground, the shorter the tank, and thus the lower the cost of the tank. The site also met other criteria including location in close proximity to existing large main water lines, which reduces the need for further costly large diameter water main extensions.
