The role of the Durham Civilian Police Review Board (CPRB) is to receive appeals from individuals who are not satisfied with the finding(s) of their complaint to the Durham Police Department (DPD) due to a possible faulty investigation by the DPD. Appeals are received only after the DPD has completed its investigation and notified the complainant. The Board may not hear any appeal in which a claim for damages has been presented to the City or a lawsuit has been filed in any court of competent jurisdiction. The CPRB determines the need for an appeal hearing based on a review of the investigative process conducted by the DPD.
