Public hearings will be held to discuss the following: Item 14326 - Proposed agreement between the City of Durham and Bookman Commercial Holding; Item 14327 - Proposed agreement between the City of Durham and Ideal Sandwich Shop LLC; Item 14368 - FY 2021-2022 Annual Action Plan “Needs” Public Hearing; and Item 14378 & 14379 - Proposed Economic Expenditures with Clorox Company and Nuvotronics.

The Durham City Council will hold virtual public hearings on January 4, 2020, at 7 p.m. to hear the following requests.

Public Participation:
The virtual public meeting will be conducted using the Zoom Webinar platform. You can participate in a virtual meeting by computer, tablet, or telephone. Pre-registration is recommended.

Item 14326:
Proposed agreement between the City of Durham and Bookman Commercial Holding
Public hearing will be held to discuss the following: To authorize the City Manager to execute an economic development incentive agreement with Bookman Commercial Holdings, LLC amount not to exceed $140,000 for an economic development project proposed at 2520 Fayetteville Street, Durham NC. According to the agreement, the City would appropriate to and Bookman Commercial Holding, LLC up to a total of $140,000.00 for capital improvements within the Community Development Area located at 2520 Fayetteville Street in Durham NC.

Proposed agreement between the City of Durham and Ideal Sandwich Shop LLC
Public hearing will be held to discuss the following: To authorize the City Manager to execute an economic development incentive agreement with Ideal Sandwich Shop LLC amount not to exceed $102,000 for an economic development project proposed at 2108 Angier Avenue, Durham NC. According to the agreement, the City would appropriate to and Ideal Sandwich Shop LLC up to a total of $102,000.00 for capital improvements within the Community Development Area located at 2108 Angier Avenue in Durham NC.

Item 14368:
FY 2021-2022 Annual Action Plan “Needs” Public Hearing
The Citizen Participation Plan contained in the adopted 2020-2025 Consolidated Plan requires that two (2) public hearings be held prior to the submission of the Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The purpose of this first public hearing is to receive citizen comments on how Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) funds can be used address housing and community development needs in Durham.

Item 14378 & 14379:
Proposed $75k Economic Development Expenditure to Clorox Company
City Council will receive comments on a proposed expenditure for economic development in the amount of Seventy-five Thousand dollars ($75,000) to Clorox Company over a three (3) year period to create a minimum of 158 new jobs and make approximately $7.5 million in capital investments. The funds will be paid from the General Fund of the City of Durham. 

Proposed $150k Economic Development Expenditure to Nuvotronics
City Council will receive comments on a proposed expenditure for economic development in the amount of One Hundred, Fifty Thousand dollars ($150,000) to Nuvotronics over a three (3) year period to create a minimum of 150 new jobs and make approximately $50 million in capital investments. The funds will be paid from the General Fund of the City of Durham.
