Jim came to the Durham Fire Department in 1999. He has obtained certification as a Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Structural Collapse Technician, and Paramedic. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Science in Executive Fire Leadership and Disaster Preparedness. Jim became a Battalion Chief in 2016 and a Division Chief in 2018.
