Chief Cole came to the Durham Fire Department in 1999. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Science in Executive Fire Leadership and Disaster Preparedness. He is certified as a Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Structural Collapse Technician, and Paramedic. Chief Cole became a Battalion Chief in 2016, Division Chief in 2018, and Deputy Chief in 2023.
