Assistant Chief Andy Sannipoli began with the Durham Fire Department in 1996 and was promoted to Assistant Chief of Planning and Administration in 2013. In late 2017, he transferred to the Operations Division assuming responsibility for the oversight and coordination of the Fire Operations Division and the Department’s nine Operations Battalion Chiefs. Additionally, he played an integral role in program development and review, personnel management, and focusing Operations activities on overall departmental goals. In late 2022, Assistant Chief Sannipoli transferred to the Training Division where he will assume responsibility for recruitment of new firefighters as well as training of existing Operations personnel.
He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program and is currently pursuing a MS in Security Studies.
